Building partially collapses as residential fire breaks out in Palm Desert

CAL FIRE

After a structural fire broke out at a house in Palm Desert today, the residence partially collapsed.

The fire was first reported at around 11:15 a.m. on the 900 block of Mesa Grande.

Firefighters arrived at the scene of the single-story dwelling to battle a "well-established" fire in the attic.

The department published an update two hours later, noting the fire had been contained, but a partial building collapse had occurred.

Officials promised to remain at the location for an hour on account of ``substantial mop-up.''
