Suspected DUI with three-year-old passenger involved in rollover crash in Yucca Valley
A suspected DUI driver was arrested after a rollover crash with a three-year-old in the passenger seat over the weekend in Yucca Valley.
The crash was reported on Friday just after 11 p.m. at the intersection of Twentynine Palms Highway and Kickapoo Trail.
San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies learned the driver, a 21-year-old Yucca Valley man, lost control of the vehicle and subsequently rolled into a ditch.
Authorities said a 38-year-old passenger was ejected. They were transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs for moderate injuries. They have since been discharged from the hospital.
The Sheriff's Dept. did not mention whether three-year-old was hurt after the crash.
The driver, who was found to be driving under the influence, was described by the agency as "responsible for the care and well-being of a 3-year-old juvenile in the vehicle."
Deputies arrested the 21-year-old. They were booked into the jail on charges of DUI Over .08 Causing Bodily Injury, DUI Causing Bodily Injury. and Child Abuse. Bail was set at $250,000.
