A student from Nellie Coffman Middle School won Palm Springs Unified School District's "Bee of Champions" on Friday.

PSUSD's bee of champions includes two students from each of the district's elementary and middle schools who won their recent spelling bees. The event was held Friday morning at the Cathedral City High School theater.

Nellie Coffman's Sandra Villa won in the ninth round. The winning word was "installation."

Sandra will represent PSUSD in the upcoming county spelling bee. We wish her the best of luck!
