Coachella Valley Firebirds re-sign forward Jeremy McKenna

Jeremy McKenna is coming back for another season with the Coachella Valley Firebirds.

McKenna netted 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) in 27 regular season games for the Firebirds last season. He really came alive in the Calder Cup playoffs, scoring six goals and making six assists in 18 postseason games.

The 24-year-old had huge showings in two of the Firebirds' winner-take-all postseason games.

He tallied two goals and one assist in Game 5 against the Colorado Eagles.

He followed that up with another impressive performance in Game 5 against the Calgary Wranglers, helping the Firebirds advance to the Western Conference Finals.

The Canmore, Alberta native recorded 43 points (22 goals, 21 assists) with the Kansas City Mavericks, Coachella Valley’s ECHL affiliate.

Prior to re-signing with Coachella Valley, McKenna played in the American Hockey League with the Toronto Marlies and skated in the ECHL for the Wichita Thunder and Newfoundland Growlers.

The Firebirds start their upcoming season on Friday, Oct. 13 at home against the Bakersfield Condors.
