An Indio man is dead after a fatal crash in Banning

A man is dead after an early morning crash involving a big rig in Banning.

The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. on the Westbound I-10 near the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility.

The Riverside County Coroner has identified the man as 22-year old Bernardo Fajardo of Indio. Fajardo was pronounced dead shortly after the crash.

The California Highway Patrol reports a vehicle caught on fire after crashing into the back of a big rig.

Authorities are still investigating the accident.
