Air quality remains a focus, with stronger winds arriving midweek

We are continuing to closely monitor the air quality again in the valley this week as windblown dust can quickly deteriorate air quality and visibility.

While not as pronounced as Monday night, breezy conditions are still expected this evening.

A First Alert Weather Alert has been issued for Wednesday and Thursday. We are tracking the potential for gusty winds exceeding 30 MPH, which can lead to reduced air quality, limited visibility, and road closures.

Wednesday evening, we could see wind gusts approaching 40 MPH along the I-10 corridor. Particularly in the more wind-prone areas such as Whitewater, Desert Hot Springs, and Thousand Palms.

Temperatures will remain mild this week but will start to warm back up for the first weekend of fall.
