Hadley’s reopens with new safety measures in place
Hadley Fruit Orchards, the roadside shop in Cabazon known for its date shakes, reopened its doors Monday.
The store has been closed for a month to prevent the spread of the virus.
“We’ve been having a deficit for all our favorite products,” said June Siva, a Hadley’s customer returning for the first time in weeks.
“The date shakes are awesome. They’ve always been great,” said Anthony Mucha, another customer.
As general manager Kelly DeGraw explained to News Channel 3’s Madison Weil, the shop depends mostly on the business of people pulling off the I-10 freeway. “Basically the traveler is our customer. The people that are going to Palm Springs or to LA...they impact us when they don’t come in,” said DeGraw.
Visitors can once again purchase their favorite travel snacks and sweets. “The jellies, all the dates and all the fruits are fantastic,” said Mucha.
“We have nuts, all sorts of candies. We have pretty much everything you can think of if you have a sweet tooth,” said DeGraw. The store now also carries staples like milk, eggs, bread, rice or beans.
Hadley’s has new protective measures in place to keep customers and staff members safe. “Well you have to have a face mask to come in,” said DeGraw. Plexiglass has also been installed at the registers, social distancing spaces designated on the floor and only 12 people are allowed inside at one time.
The manager says you can also place orders online or simply call to place an order for pick up.
