Arrest stats from second weekend of Coachella Fest top first weekend
The Indio Police Department has released the arrest statistics from the second weekend of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, and more people were arrested this time around than the first weekend of the festival.
A total of 133 people were arrested during the second weekend, 40 more than the 93 arrested during the first weekend.
Arrest records from second weekend:
20 arrests were made for drunk in public
53 arrests were related to illegal narcotics
51 of those arrest were for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance
2 of those arrests were felony arrests for possession of a controlled substance for sales and booked into jail
57 arrests were made for alcohol violations
1 misdemeanor domestic violence arrest was made
1 resisting/obstructing an officer arrest was made
1 warrant arrest was made
Arrest records from first weekend:
13 arrests were made for drunk in public
56 arrests were related to illegal narcotics
49 of those arrest were for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance
7 of those arrests were felony arrests for possession of a controlled substance for sales
20 arrests were made for alcohol violations
2 domestic violence arrests were made
1 resisting/obstructing an officer arrest was made
1 trespassing arrest was made
Officers said there was an above average number of campers that arrived earlier than in past years. The increase in campers caused some early morning traffic congestion in and around the venue, especially during the first weekend.
The second weekend of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival ran from April 17-19.
