Cal Fire called to Indio structure fire

Firefighters responded to a well-involved structure fire in the Indio Hills Friday afternoon.

Cal Fire received the call just after 2:30 p.m. and responded to the 31700 block of Northwood Road in the Indio Hills area off of Dillon Road. It took about 30 minutes to contain the fire.

A neighbor told us four or five people live in the home, but fire officials said nobody was home at the time of the fire.

Our crew at the scene, said the home appeared to be a total loss. Because of the heat, extra firefighters were called to the scene to rotate firefighters while they battled the blaze.

Firefighters remained at the house for about two hours to mop up.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
