INDIO -A man accused of fatally shooting an Apple Valley man in Palm Springs and a woman accused of trying to help the defendant evade arrest are scheduled to appear in court today for a preliminary hearing.
Dale Farquhar, 47, faces one count of first-degree murder and a sentence-enhancing allegation of using a gun in the shooting death of 57-year-old Larry Roger Fisk. Cara Covert, 38, faces a felony charge of being an accessory in a felony.
Farquhar, who is being held in lieu of $1 million bail, and Covert are set to appear in court today for a preliminary hearing, which will determine whether there is enough evidence to go to trial.
Farquhar was arrested Nov. 15, said Sgt. Mitch Spike of the Palm Springs Police Department. He was found outside a second-floor condominium around 2 p.m. Saturday at the Palm Springs Villas complex in the 600 block of Ashurst Court, he said.
Fisk was found next to Farquhar’s condo, Spike said.
Authorities have not discussed a motive in the shooting.
