Local Teen Wins ‘Got Milk?’ Billboard Contest

Palm Springs High School senior Rayneisha Smith is the new star of a “Got Milk?” billboard.

Smith recently won the “Got Milk?” billboard photo contest sponsored by the California Milk Processor Board.

She beat out hundreds of other billboard hopefuls with her photo that depicts her varsity basketball team, all wearing the iconic milk mustache.

“My teacher, Mr. Brown, introduced the contest to the class, and I thought it would be a good idea to get my varsity basketball team to take a picture because milk represents strong athletic people,” said Smith. “It helps you grow and I thought our team represented that as a whole.”

The contest is part of the ongoing campaign to encourage teens to eat breakfast. Studies show that more teens are skipping breakfast, which can contribute to health problems and lower test scores.

In addition to the billboard, Smith also won $1,000, which she’ll use for college.

The billboard can be seen near the intersection of Gene Autry Trail and Vista Chino in Palm Springs. It will be up for a month.
