First Phase Of Desert Fashion Plaza Redevelopment Begins
Wessman Development announced late Monday that its workers will begin the process of removing the large white tent behind Desert Fashion Plaza on Tuesday.
The tent, the former home of the now defunct Cirque Dreams, will be removed in several phases with the first stage on Tuesday. The entire tent is expected to be removed from the premises by the end of April.
?I’m pleased the City’s Public/Private Partnership with Wessman Development has led to the upcoming removal of the tent behind Desert Fashion Plaza, ” said Mayor Steve Pougnet. ?This is an important step as we continue to move forward to revitalize our downtown as soon as possible.”
The removal is the first step in an agreement signed between Wessman and the City of Palm Springs to redevelop the Desert Fashion Plaza, which has sat empty for years.
Part of it will be demolished to make way for a new project, which hasn’t been decided on.
