Firefighters make fast work of La Quinta vegetation fire

There was a brush fire this morning in La Quinta. It erupted around 9:30 a.m. near Jackson Street and Avenue 62.

The blaze was contained to a half-acre of land. Firefighters were initially concerned it could spread up to ten acres before they got the fire under control around 10:20 a.m.

Firefighters were on the scene putting out hot spots and keeping an eye on the smoldering brush to assure no embers reignited the fire. They finally left the scene around 2:30 p.m.
