Middle schoolers put minds to work for Math Field Day

Students from all three valley districts put their minds to work Saturday at John Glenn Middle School. This is the 23rd year the Rotary Club of Indio, along with the Desert Sands Unified School District, hosted Math Field Day.

Dozens of sixth, seventh and eighth graders spent the day solving problems and competing for the coveted prize of mathematician in each grade.

This year, the club is honoring late County Supervisor John Benoit. In 1995, as president of the rotary club, Benoit helped bring Math Field Day to the valley, after learning there weren’t enough funds to send students to Riverside to compete.
