Coachella Valley High School celebrates Da De Los Muertos

Coachella Valley High School celebrates their 5th annual “Dia De Los Muertos” Cultural Night with a vast art display.

The traditional holiday celebrated in Mexico and parts of Central America to honor relatives, acknowledges that there can still be a relationship with ancestors and loved ones who have passed.

For one student, his art piece was a celebration honoring the life of his late basketball coach.

“He taught me a lot of –not just sports– but life lessons. I grew a strong bond with him. He was a really big role model to me. He was always positive, even if there was something bad going on, he always had a smile on his face,” said Francisco Felix.

Day of the Dead begins on Nov. 1.
