Adam Lambert and Queen expect to open Oscars

Adam Lambert and Queen are expected to open the 91st Academy Awards Sunday.

The film Bohemian Rhapsody is nominated for five Oscars, including Best Picture and Rami Malek for Best Actor.

News Channel 3’s Kelley Moody spoke with Queen’s keyboardist and musical director, Spike Edney, during our coverage of the Palm Springs International Film Festival earlier this year. He called Malek’s portrayal of Freddie Mercury remarkable.

“My feeling watching Rami Malek was that it’s about as close as it’s humanly possible to get to portraying another person, with what we know,” said Edney.

Edney lives locally and works on recording projects with up and coming performers at Pink Satellite Studios in Joshua Tree.
