Indian Canyon Drive reopens at the wash
Indian Canyon Drive reopened at the wash shortly before 10:45 a.m. Friday.
The closure first went into effect Thursday morning at 1:19 a.m. due to power pole maintenance by Southern California Edison. During Thursday’s closure, a three-foot-high sand embankment formed in the middle of the road, making it impassable.
Limited visibility on the artery connecting Palm Springs to Interstate 10 and Desert Hot Springs also led to the shutdown.
Police advised drivers on Thursday to not go around the barricades because ” you will likely be stuck in the sandstorm and will be cited. ”
