Beginning June 19, nail salons, tattoo shops and massage parlors are allowed to reopen in California with county approval.

Wane Kan, Co-owner of Iron Palm Tattoo in Palm Springs is hard at work to prepare his shop to reopen.

“Extremely excited," said Kan. "We have been waiting a really long time."

Kan said there were already strict sterilization guidelines  for parlors to follow even before the pandemic but now more steps are in place.

“We have to keep six feet apart, which the stations are already setup for that," said Kan. "We’re going to be required to wear masks for everyone performing and coming in the entire time, its going to be appointment only.”

Kan said customers will have to accommodate to some changes.

“This place will have a maximum capacity of 12 people so basically all of us could work at the same time but no guests could be around," said Kan.

Jose Tallon, Owner of Adornment Piercing and Private Tattoo shop is going above and beyond when welcoming back his customers.

“We’re going to have markers showing where people can be while the artists are going to be wearing face shields along with masks and all clients are going to have to wear masks and we’re actually going to have our door locked," said Tallon.

Tallon said he’s already booked.

“I get about 30 message per day about when we’re going to reopen wanting to make appointments, waitlist," said Tallon. "Some of my artists are already booked up past August.”

Although the governor has given a green light for nail salons, tattoo shops and massage parlors to reopen on Friday but Salon Gregory in Palm Desert the owner tells me she’s going to wait another week until she opens the nail salon portion of her business.

“We’re just trying to make sure that we follow everything we are being told by the governor and not jump the gun," said Karryn Gregory.

Gregory said she hasn't opened up her calendar yet but customers will notice changes.
