Big cool down and gusty conditions ahead

We have some big changes coming to the Coachella Valley over the next few days. Starting tomorrow, Thursday, a significant cooling trend will begin. Temperatures will fall going into the weekend, with high temperatures in the low 80s expected for Saturday and Sunday.

Another change we will notice is in our winds. Wind gusts will not be super high tonight, however we will notice stronger gusts in the evening and afternoon hours beginning Thursday. Friday and Saturday are expected to have the strongest wind gusts of the week.

In anticipation of the increased wind gusts later this week, we are issuing a First Alert Weather Alert for the Coachella Valley. There is still a lot of dust, silt and sand here on the valley floor. As a result we are very closely monitoring how the wind gusts will impact visibility, air quality and road closures.

Temperatures will be well below average heading into this weekend! Starting tomorrow, daily highs will decrease relatively quickly. Temperatures will peak in the low 80s this weekend, before warming slightly as we head into next week.
