50-year-old man remains behind bars on suspicion of meth possession
A 50-year-old man remains behind bars today for alleged methamphetamine possession during a property check conducted by law enforcement Thursday.
William Leroy Mankins of Thousand Palms was allegedly found with the drug during a property check that began about 5:15 p.m. at 73000 block of Quivira Street in Thousand Palms, according to the Riverside County Sheriff Department.
About 15 minutes later, the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force arrested Mankins on suspicion of meth with intent to sell.
Mankins also had an active drug-related arrest warrant, deputies said.
The sheriff’s department did not immediately confirm if the property check was related to the arrest warrant or if Mankins lives at the Quivira Street residence.
Mankins is being held on $30,000 bond at the Larry D. Smith Correctional facility in Banning, jail records show.
He is due back in court on Wednesday.
