The moratorium protects residents and commercial tenants from being evicted if they have been financially impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Tenants have to provide written notice to their landlord that they are unable to pay rent due to a coronavirus related reason. The rent would then be deferred for 180 days.

The tenant is required to pay whatever amount of rent the tenant can.

Landlords can still evict a tenant who failed to pay rent when due before the city declared an emergency.
