Hot start to the week, more humidity follows
Saturday night temperatures hover around 100° just after 9 p.m. Air quality in the valley continues to slowly improve with the most challenging spots to the west through the San Gorgonio Pass. Dusty conditions continue as mud dries across valley roadways and is lofted into the atmosphere as cars drive through. Air quality is considered

Insider Blog: Why Tropical Storm Hilary caused sinkholes in the Coachella Valley
In many places, like Florida, sinkholes aren’t an uncommon occurrence. In Florida, much of the bedrock is made of limestone, a sedimentary rock. The problem with sedimentary rocks like limestone is that they can easily dissolve in acidic water. When rain falls, small amounts of gasses can dissolve into the water, turning the water ever

Rising temperatures into the final weekend of August
An expanding ridge of high pressure will aid in the rise of temperatures into and through the weekend. Saturday’s heat risk is ‘moderate’ meaning a “level of heat (that) affects most individuals sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration.” The heat risk will increase to ‘major’ early next week. An Excessive

Less humidity, more heat
Today we should see dew points and humidity readings start to dry up a bit heading into the weekend as monsoonal flow moves farther east. By this evening, it should feel less muggy out there. Temperatures remain fairly close to our seasonal averages through the weekend, but we are expecting a warm-up into next week.

A bump in humidity to end the week
Some monsoon flow is sliding back toward the Coachella Valley, with a small threat of mountain and high desert thunderstorms by tomorrow. The dew points will be the most notable part of that for us here on the Valley floor, as they will return to the 60s. Then heading into the weekend heat returns across

Humidity lingers, temperatures to rise through the rest of the week
Enjoy the relatively mild and below average temperatures! As we move through this week and into the weekend, we are tracking rising temperatures. Gradual drying today
The dew points remain elevated, but are slowly recovering, but the humidity will linger after Hilary. With all the mud and dirt drying out, you’re likely to see a lot of dust over the next few days. So far air quality remains in the “GOOD” range, but may deteriorate as the clean-up continues. Thunderstorms continue
