The timeline for the new College of the Desert West Valley campus is on schedule
The College of the Desert representatives are confident in their new renderings and timeline for the West Valley Campus.
We've been covering this for quite some time, hoping to grasp the West Valley campus concept.
What's new?
The new timeline starts as early as spring 2024, presenting plans to the D.S.A. ( Division of the State Architect). The formal submission is to confirm that the campus plans and designs meet regulations and codes. A C.O.D. representative says the process generally takes longer, but they have already created a working relationship with the division, so they are confident that their formal submission will be approved and can stick to the timeline presented to the city council.
In the fall of 2024, the West Valley campus team will start the contractor bidding.
You are looking at some of the renderings presented at Thursday's Palm Springs City Council meeting.
We should expect a groundbreaking ceremony by the winter of 2024. A C.O.D. representative says everyone will want to attend and speak, knowing this project has been a long time coming.
Construction will be finalized at the end of 2026, and classes will start in the spring of 2027.
