An irrigation pipe broke on the campus at Saul Martinez Elementary School in Mecca Tuesday morning, forcing several classes to move to other rooms in the building, according to Coachella Valley Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Maria Gandera.

"The main water line to the school is not damaged," Dr. Gandera wrote in an email to News Channel 3. "The school has water and is functioning normally with the exception of a few classrooms that had to move to other classrooms."

The pipe break is currently being "addressed".

Students and staff are "safe" and are "learning as they do on any other day", according to Dr. Gandera, save for the above-mentioned classes shifting rooms due to the pipe burst.

The school is located at 65705 Johnson Street in Mecca.
