Holocaust Remembrance Day held in Palm Desert

Wednesday marked 71 years since the liberation of Auschwitz — the camp that held mainly Jewish prisoners during World War II.

The Gerald Ford Chapter of the Mensch International Foundation hosted Palm Desert’s 7th annual Holocaust Remembrance Day at Civic Center Park. The event kicked off at 3 p.m.

Politicians, Rabbis and a Holocaust survivor all spoke at the event.

Six million Jewish people were killed by Nazis and their collaborators during the Holocaust. The Mensch Foundation was founded in 2002 to educate people to stamp-out stereotyping and anti-Semitic and racist thinking.
