Ultralight packed with pot found in S. Cal desert

Authorities say a high-flying drug smuggler abandoned an ultralight plane in the Southern California desert – and it was loaded with a half-million dollars’ worth of marijuana and meth.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise says Border Patrol agents found the plane Wednesday morning near the community of Niland, near the Mexican border.

Strapped to the ultralight were nearly 190 pounds of marijuana and about 13 pounds of methamphetamine.
