Sunnylands to close temporarily while President Obama hosts February summit
The White House has announced that President Obama will host a summit with leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at Sunnylands in February.
Officials said the historic estate and Sunnylands Center & Gardens will close Sunday, February 7 and will reopen for public visitation on Saturday, February 20, when scheduled tours of the Annenberg estate will resume for guests who have purchased tickets offered during Modernism Week.
As set forth in its founding documents, the primary mission of The Annenberg Foundation Trust at Sunnylands is to make Sunnylands available for “the President of the United States and the Secretary of State of the United States to bring together world leaders in order to promote world peace and facilitate international agreement,” according to the release.
Officials also said Sunnylands Center & Gardens will resume its regular schedule on Saturday, February 20 as well. The facility offers special exhibits, beautiful gardens, walking trails, a cafe, and gift shop which is generally open to the public.
