Freeways Reopen After Southern California Storm
As a cold storm moves out of the Southland, several roads are still impacted by ice and snow.
The Grapevine section of the Golden State (5) Freeway through the mountains north of Los Angeles reopened this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The road had been closed overnight because of ice and snow on the pavement.
CHP officers began escorting groups of motorists through the Grapevine at 7:20 a.m. before deciding to completely open the roadway without escorts about 8:30 a.m., said CHP Officer Francisco Villalobos.
The Verdugo Pass on the Foothill (210) Freeway is open, although there was ice on the eastbound lanes at La Tuna Canyon Road, according to the CHP.
In La Canada Flintridge, Angeles Crest (2) Highway between Starlight Crest Drive and Angeles Forest Highway was closed due to storm damage and may remain closed through the spring, although a section of the highway is open between Angeles Forest Highway and Islip Saddle.
